GPA is credit-weighted: each course's grade point is multiplied by its credit hours, those products are summed across all courses, and the total is divided by the sum of all credit hours. A 3-credit course counts three times as much as a 1-credit course toward your final GPA.

Why the entry method differs by institution

Tribhuvan University's common published master's-semester scale converts a percentage mark directly to a grade point. Kathmandu University publishes transcript letter grades, but marks-to-grade cutoffs vary across its schools and programs, so this calculator asks for the letter grade already on your transcript rather than guess a university-wide marks conversion.
