What is Bikram Sambat (BS)?
Bikram Sambat is the official calendar of Nepal, used on legal documents, school and university records, government forms, and most everyday paperwork. It runs roughly 56-57 years ahead of the Gregorian (AD) calendar, but the offset isn't a fixed number of days — each BS month can be 29 to 32 days long, and the exact lengths were historically set by the Nepal Panchang Nirnayak Samiti rather than following a simple formula. That's why a reliable converter needs an actual calendar dataset, not a rough date-math approximation.
