Search Nepali baby names in Devanagari or Roman script, filter by starting sound, origin, or theme, and combine two parents' names into name suggestions — entirely in your browser, nothing uploaded.

Demo dataset — the 20 names shown are unreviewed placeholders carried over from a starter package, not a verified name directory. No Nwaran/astrology calculation is included; see the FAQ for why.

Demonstration dataset — these 20 records are unreviewed placeholders, not verified by a Nepali-language or cultural editor. Do not treat a meaning or mythology note here as fact.

About this tool & FAQ

What this tool does

Search a small starter catalog of Nepali names in either Devanagari (नेपाली) or Roman script, with filters for gender presentation, starting sound, origin, and theme. A separate parent-name combiner takes both parents' given names and returns two kinds of results: catalog names that phonetically resemble both parents' names, and freshly constructed "creative blends" built from pieces of each name. Nothing you type is uploaded — search and blending both run locally in your browser.

Reviewed names vs. creative blends — and why the distinction matters

A creative blend is a new spelling assembled from parts of both parents' names; it is not a word with a known meaning, so it never carries a meaning, origin, or mythology claim — only a note showing which letters came from which parent. Catalog matches are different: they're existing names with a stated meaning. This tool never blurs the two, because a generator that invents a meaning for a made-up spelling would be actively misleading for something as significant as a baby's name.

Why this is a small demo catalog, not a finished name directory

The 20 names in this starter catalog are placeholders carried over from the reference package's own seed data — they have not been checked by a Nepali-language editor or a cultural adviser for spelling accuracy, meaning, or mythology associations. Every result on this page says so. Building a trustworthy directory (hundreds of names, each independently reviewed with a cited source) is real editorial work that hasn't happened yet; this integration deliberately avoids presenting unreviewed placeholder meanings as fact.

What this tool intentionally does not include

This tool does not calculate a Nwaran/rashi naming sound from a birth date, time, and place. Nepali naming-ceremony traditions vary by family, community, priest, and Patro edition, and a trustworthy calculator for it needs a licensed astronomical ephemeris and sign-off from a qualified cultural adviser — neither exists yet for this tool. Rather than publish an unvalidated approximation as cultural guidance, this feature is left out until it can be built and reviewed properly. If you have a priest- or Patro-given starting sound already, use the search filters above to browse names starting with that sound instead.

FAQ

Are the meanings on this page verified?
No — every name shown carries a demo-dataset notice. These 20 records are placeholders from the starter package this tool was built from, not independently reviewed by a Nepali-language or cultural editor. Treat every meaning as a starting point for your own research, not a verified fact.
What's the difference between a "reviewed match" and a "creative blend"?
A reviewed match is an existing catalog name that phonetically resembles both parents' names — it has a stated meaning (unverified, per above). A creative blend is a brand-new spelling built from parts of both names; it never has a meaning attached, because it isn't an existing word.
Why is there no Nwaran / rashi-based name calculator?
A trustworthy version needs a licensed astronomical ephemeris and validation from a qualified priest or cultural adviser against a real Patro edition — that review hasn't happened. Publishing an unvalidated approximation as ritual guidance would risk misleading families on something culturally significant, so it's left out for now.
Is my search or parent names sent to a server?
No — search and the parent-name combiner both run entirely in your browser against the small bundled dataset. Nothing is uploaded, logged, or stored.
