Data Sources

We never invent a rule, rate, or date. This page lists where each data-driven part of Kaamsajilo gets its information, and how we handle the parts we haven't sourced yet.

Nepali calendar (BS↔AD conversion)

Our Bikram Sambat↔Gregorian conversion is built on an internally audited month-length dataset for years 2000–2090 BS, cross-checked against multiple independent reference implementations, plus manual spot-verification against known public calendar sources for major transition dates. Dates outside this range are refused rather than guessed.

Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) — foreign exchange rates

Forex buy/sell rates are fetched daily from Nepal Rastra Bank's public rates API. Every rate we show includes the date it was published for and when we last fetched it; if a day's rate hasn't been published or our fetch has failed, we show the most recent known-good rate with a clearly visible "may be out of date" badge — we never silently show stale data as current.

FENEGOSIDA — gold & silver prices

Gold and silver rates are intended to be sourced from FENEGOSIDA (Federation of Nepal Gold & Silver Dealers' Association). This feed is not live yet — we are waiting on written confirmation from FENEGOSIDA that automated retrieval of their published rates is acceptable before turning this on in production. Until then, this tool will honestly show "no data yet" rather than a fabricated or scraped-without-permission number.

Vehicle tax, income tax, GPA scales, and other fiscal/institutional rules

These calculators are built on a versioned rule system: every rule has an effective-from date and a citation to an official source document, and stays marked unverified in the tool's output until an administrator has checked it against that source. As of this writing, we have not yet collected the official source documents for current income-tax slabs, province-by-province vehicle-tax schedules, or institution GPA scales — these calculators will visibly flag their rules as unverified until that sourcing work is complete.

Preeti/Unicode/romanized Nepali text conversion

Our text-conversion engine is built in-house from reviewed Preeti/Kantipur/PCS glyph-mapping tables, tested against a golden corpus of real Nepali text. Where a Preeti↔Unicode conversion cannot be perfectly reversed (this happens — one visual glyph can map to more than one logical Unicode sequence), we label the output "best compatible," never claim a perfect round trip.

Something look wrong?

If a rate, date, or rule looks incorrect, please tell us — see our Corrections Policy — rather than relying on it for an important decision until it's confirmed.
